Romeo Miller talks about critisim on interracial dating after breaking up with white girlfriend

Posted by Sidney, 13 Jan

Like most black celebrities dating or marrying interracially, Romeo Miller was also a victim of social media backlash after posting pictures of his girlfriend, Toneata Morgan (who is white), on Instagram. As harsh as critics are, they commented that Morgan was with him for the money and he should date a black woman.

Much as Romeo and Morgan are no longer an item, he passionately stands by people being able to date anyone who makes them happy, regardless of race; telling Rolling Out:

“At that time, the person I was dating, she was a different race … she’s White, I’m Black. At that time in my life, I wasn’t aware that that was still a big deal. There’s a lot more craziness going on in the world. A problem shouldn’t be whether I like somebody that’s Black, Chinese, Puerto Rican, or purple. If I love you, I love you for you.”

While with his girlfriend and while filming scenes for WEtv’s Growing Up Hip-Hop alongside Morgan he was in a position to talk about the backlash he received ... something he was very grateful for, saying:

Your perfect partner could be online right now...

What are you looking for?

“I think that’s the cool thing I was able to show on this TV show at that time in my life is that love is colorless at the end of the day, and you can’t live for other people. I haven’t been in many relationships, but what I learned from that relationship is that you have to make sure you’re happy.”

All he wanted was to bring awareness to the fact that its going to be a while before people absolutely understand that love doesn’t have a color.

Yap. Love knows no color that's for sure... Get It People!!!

Coming next... story of a woman who screwed love because of prejudice. Keep reading...

I WATCHED THE MILLIONAIRE MATCH MAKER WHEN ROMEO WAS TRYING TO SELECT A DATE FOR A GIRLFRIEND HIS INTEREST WAS VERY MUCH DIVERSE HOWEVER, THE BEAUTIFUL BLACK FEMALE THAT HE WANTED TO CHOOSE WAS OVER LOOKED BECAUSE HIS ADVISOR (OVERSEER) PERSUADED HIM TO SELECT A WHITE FEMALE THAT APPEARED TO BE A MUCH BETTER CHOICE ACCORDING TO HIM AND EVEN PATTY HERSELF WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH HIS CHOICE AND TRIED TO CONVINCE HIM TO RETHINK HIS DECISION AND AT LEAST ALLOW HER TO SET HIM UP ON A DATE WITH THE BEAUTIFUL BLACK FEMALE ,WHICH HE DID RECONSIDER TO DO, BUT THE INFLUENCE WAS THERE FROM THE OLDER BLACK MAN THAT I BELIEVE BUT DON'T QUOTE ME IS HIS OVERSEER POSSIBLY A UNCLE THERE TO LOOK OUT FOR HIS BEST INTEREST WHICH WAS INTERESTING ANY HOW, COLOR SHOULD HOLD NO BEARING WHEN IT COMES TO LOVE BUT I DO ASK ARE WE (BLACK WOMEN) NOT DESERVING OF SOME WONDERFUL POSSIBILITIES JUST LIKE OUR CAUCASIN GIRLFRIENDS ??????? SOME MEN HAVE VERY DIVERSE TASTE AND UNFORTUNATELY MOST OF THE TIME WE LOSE OUT TO THIS WITH OUR BLACK MEN....

What Shade is being thrown? He can date who he wants. Why did he feel the need to end the relationship. BW are use to BM dating WW so what. Alot of BM in the music industry date WW it is no big deal. I agree with the other poster she probably broke up with him.

I feel that he should not have broke up with her. He is so weak. If you really cared for her then why would you let others get in your relationship. I have dated and even married a WM before and when we broke up it was not because of other people. I could care less what others thought or think for that matter.

I was thinking the same thing too. If you loved someone no matter the color of their skin then why did you give up? Seems like to me he's more worried about nay Sayers and his self.
