Empire's Jussie Smollett back at work after being "brutally beaten and attacked with bleach" in possible hate crime

Heart-breaking news when we heard that Jussie Smollett was “brutally beaten and attacked with bleach” in a possible hate crime according to a statement from Chicago Police Department.

According to CNN, the Empire star was attacked by two people who were "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs".

Police also added that the people "poured an unknown chemical substance” which is believed to be some form of bleach on him before fleeing the scene.

Security has now been beefed up for the Empire cast and Jussie as well.

According to other reports, Jussie Smollett was alone by a Subway sandwich shop during the time of the attack. The actor told reporters that he “fought back” at the attackers before they put a rope around his neck and doused him in the unknown bleach-like substance.

Social media has been flooded with messages of support for the actor. His Empire family also issued their own heartfelt and supportive statement…

"We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a member of our 'Empire' family, Jussie Smollett, was viciously attacked ...," a spokesperson for FOX said in a statement.

"We send our love to Jussie, who is resilient and strong, and we will work with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice.

“The entire studio, network and production stands united in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate -- and especially against one of our own."

Luckily, Smollet is now in good condition and is back at work.

"I am not fully healed yet, but I'm going to, and I'm gonna stand strong with ya'll," he said. "I had to be here tonight, y'all. I couldn't let those motherf--kers win. So I will always stand for love. I will never stand for anything other than that. Regardless of what anyone else says, I will only stand for love and I hope that you all stand with me."

It's a hoax. This is awful because there are Blacks and LGBT people that face racism and have been the victim of hate crimes for real. He should have to pay for this because someone could have gotten hurt or killed for his lies.

I just heard that there are 30,000+ video cameras around Chicago. They have Jussie on camera for all but less than 60 seconds of his trip out and back. No footage of the alleged attackers, coming or going. He said he was 'fighting for his life'. In less than a minute of alleged attack?! He also won't turn over his phone records (they have been subpoenaed). Some people lie, regardless of their race. Smollett will be charged with filing a false police report. Bank on it!
