In an interview with Forbes, the famous Hitch star shared that she and her longtime partner Ryan Gosling both do 'chores' around the house to teach their two daughters that it's not just women who should clean and cook.

"I'm not a clean freak by any means, but I love having a clean house, especially a clean kitchen and sink. I feel like it's a part of mental wellness for me," Mendes commented.

She also confessed, "I'm not an amazing cook. I leave that to Ryan."

"We're all partners in this, not just Ryan, but our children as well," she added. "It's a team effort every day, so if they see him and I switch off doing certain things that aren't specific to stereotypical gender things, I think that just creates balance and harmony."

Also, during an interview with People, she expressed, "I think there's a nice balance to 'you cook, I clean. And it just works for us."

What do you think about non-traditional gender roles when raising a family? Let us know in the comments below.

I think you guys are taking it all out of context. Yes reversed gender roles are nothing new but it’s not thought in all homes. A lot of men do believe a woman should cook and clean and they do voice it. My response is I work the same way you do so I suggest you learn how to turn on the stove. Teaching our daughters to change a tire or hang a tv on the wall is an accomplishment for a lot of women who were single mothers. Not to take anything away from your beliefs but when our daughters are strong, self sufficient women it is liberating. So I wouldn’t say they’re clueless just proud. Sir you and the men on this site that are looking for peace will never find it. That is equal to the women looking for a man to make them happy. We as people need to learn peace and happiness comes from within and once you find those for yourself everything else is a balance. I do wish you all luck in your search to find love.

They need to wake up. Nothing new here. Couples always share duties. Turn off the Flintstones & get a clue- clueless!

It absolutely slays me that whenever gender roles are brought up, the first thing that comes out of peoples mouth is "cooking" and "cleaning". Look here's the deal, my masculinity can't be defined by these boxes media have developed. I dont want a hard woman, thats my choice, thats my right as a human being to not want someone that full of dude-energy. If all I needed was someone to cook and clean, I'd hire a maid, its less trouble and you literally pay them to leave. If I wanted just sex, I'd hire sexworkers, once again you pay them to leave, its simple. What I'm looking for and what most men on this site are looking for is someone that provides peace. If you want to cut the grass, tend to the garden, wash a car, fix a appliance, then fine, go for it. My love and attraction isnt defined by what you do around the house, its defined by who you are as a person. I seriously think this site and many others are so chock full of "boss babes" that are finally realizing that men really dont care about your money and or degrees that they pump articles like this out to the men to say, "Look its ok to wash dishes and cook boys!". WE KNOW, we been doing it for God knows how long, give it a rest. But one thing I do know, when the wolves come, all this woke new age feminist dribble goes right out the window, thus the 1000s of women in here swearing they are looking for a "real man". Just stop it.

Thank you! Very well said. There's nothing wrong with traditional gender roles. Just be flexible.

I don’t know how my auto spell decided to change “wokety-woke” to “sole”. I wish there was an edit option. Eh. Whatever. My comment apparently needs to be “moderated” because peoples’ “Feeeelings”. We are doomed.

“Traditional gender roles” are not outdated. Go tell wild animals to stop with their “gender roles”. We are a form of animal and have a thing called INSTINCT which will NEVER go away no matter how much kicking, screaming and crying these wokety-sole’s do. I’d like to see them have no gender roles when an intruder breaks in to their home. Let’s see which one will be wearing the pants or skirt then. Morons.

This exactly, somewhere in alot of these ladies minds, especially here on this site, its finally clicked and often too late. I've dated a handful of women that are on this trope and they wonder why nobody is asking them for 2nd dates. If I gotta plan my whole life with you on date one and you come at me with the feminist tropes, I'm already mourning the loss and looking at the next person. What's crazy is most of the ladies that I've spoken too swear their ex was "too soft", "in his feelings too much" and whatnot. Like make up your minds?
